Sustainability

In a world increasingly concerned about environmental well-being, we take pride in leading the way with our commitment to sustainability. Our dedication is not just a buzzword; it’s the driving force behind every aspect of our operations, including our cutting-edge thermoplastic EV bay markings.

The electric vehicle industry holds tremendous promise for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and lessening our dependence on fossil fuels. However, it’s essential to recognise that the broader impact of EVs goes beyond their tailpipe emissions. As the demand for electric vehicles rises, so does the need for a robust and eco-conscious charging infrastructure. This is where EV Bays steps in.

The installation of EV charging stations is a pivotal moment in the transition to sustainable transportation. Yet, it’s equally crucial to address the sustainability of the supporting elements, such as the markings that guide drivers to these stations. Traditional methods of marking EV bays, like paint, are often resource-intensive, require frequent maintenance, and contribute to waste generation. This is where our thermoplastic EV bay markings shine.

Our Sustainable Approach

At EV Bays, we understand that a comprehensive approach to sustainability involves not only the products we offer but also the ripple effects they create in shaping a greener future. As more electric vehicles take to the roads, our thermoplastic EV bay markings become a silent yet powerful advocate for cleaner transportation, promoting a symbiotic relationship between technology, sustainability, and the planet.

Our sustainable approach contributes to the larger goal of creating an environmentally responsible EV ecosystem. From reducing carbon footprints to prolonging product lifecycles, we are steadfast in our commitment to advancing sustainability through innovation.

At EV Bays, sustainability is not an afterthought – it’s at the core of everything we do. We invite you to explore the following sections to learn more about our eco-friendly solutions and the positive impact they have on both the electric vehicle industry and the planet we all call home.

Sustainable Manufacturing

  • More than 50% of the energy used to manufacture the thermoplastic material comes from renewable sources like windmills.
  • More than 70% of the binder material is made from renewable resources.
  • More than 90% of our glass beads are made of recycled glass.
  • All coloured pigments used in our product are organic.
  • Less than 1.5% of production volume is allowed as waste.
  • Less than 1L of water is used per ton produced.

Less than 2% of CO2 is produced per kg of thermoplastic. A standard EV Bay at 1m x 1m weighs around 5.3kg, meaning there are only approx. 90 grams of CO2 produced in the manufacturing of enough material for 1 EV logo.

Resource Efficiency and Reducing Carbon Footprint

Our EV bay markings are precision-cut using our high-tech waterjet cutting machine. We cut up to 10 sheets at a time for efficiency, and we carefully position the cutting files on each sheet of thermoplastic before they are cut, to ensure we get the most out of the material and minimise wastage. Any wastage produced is then diverted from landfill and used to make energy.

All our EV bay markings are made from an ultra-durable preformed thermoplastic. Thermoplastic is a material that lasts significantly longer than paint, has anti-slip properties, and is suitable for high traffic areas. Its long lifespan means that there’s no need to refresh your markings within just a year like you would with traditional painted markings. In fact, they will last a minimum of 4 years, often up to 10! This longevity and significantly reduced maintenance means less frequent replacements make thermoplastic a more sustainable option for marking EV charging bays. Our preformed thermoplastic is also non-toxic and free from any lead or chromates.

Carbon Offsetting

As a business, we offset 100% of our estimated carbon emissions right up to the point where the EV bay markings are ready to leave the warehouse and make their way to you. This includes employee commuting, freight, fuels and electricity, materials, waste, and water.

Certifications

Both the thermoplastic material we use to create our EV bay markings, as well as the MMA (Methacrylate Cold Plastic) available to purchase from our online shop, are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, the latter being the world’s most recognised environmental management system.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Our innovative thermoplastic EV bay markings play a vital role in enhancing the electric vehicle infrastructure while promoting a more sustainable mode of transportation. By providing clear and durable markings for EV charging bays, we facilitate the efficient utilisation of charging stations, ensuring seamless accessibility for electric vehicle owners. This, in turn, encourages the adoption of electric vehicles by addressing a critical aspect of the charging experience: the ease of finding available charging spots.

Beyond the practical convenience, our thermoplastic markings align seamlessly with the larger mission of reducing carbon emissions. As EV adoption accelerates, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions hinges on not only the vehicles themselves but also on the entire ecosystem that supports their operation. By offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional marking methods, which often involve the use of non-renewable resources and energy-intensive processes, we actively contribute to minimising the environmental impact of EV infrastructure deployment.
